Can't type in title in Add Event

John Freedman shared this problem 1 year ago
Solved

When I type in a show title of Five Truths for an event you ask, "Add show for Five Truths?" I give the thumbs up and you erase the title. When I try to ignore your question, the template won't accept the title. How to I add my title for the event? Please advise.

Hi John,

We weren't able to reproduce this bug. Could it have been a temporary internet issue? We went ahead and added basic information (as an ordinary user, not as an admin) about the "event" and "show" to test it out, and you can continue editing as you like:

"Show": https://www.worldtheatremap.org/en/shows/drmXmoumiZzgj6oLk

"Event": https://www.worldtheatremap.org/en/events/tByRHrGb7fJS2LhJu

"Profile" of the organization presenting this "Event": https://www.worldtheatremap.org/en/profiles/thnvZayxCAh7bcbCd

Thank you for reporting this, and if you have ideas about how we can clarify these input processes, or issues in its overall logic, please let us know! — vijay@howlround.com

Unfortunately, I ran into the same problem with other attempts to enter events, only this time it would not let me enter an author/refused to recognize that I was entering an author... I did get some events entered, though, so maybe I can bull my way through bugs by doing things multiple times. I'll let you know as I continue to work. Thank you!

For example, I just now tried to complete info for Five Truths, using the first link you provided. I sucessfully added two other author/producers but when I tried to add Stanislavsky Electrotheatre as Moscow producer - everything was erased, just disappeared...

Hi John,

Maybe try a different web browser? Also, you may have certain browser extensions or add-ons that could be interfering?Let us know how it goes, and if it continues, please send a screen capture with what browser you are using and operating system.

Thanks,

I just added Stanislavsky Electrotheatre to the "Show" page.

Weird stuff happening.

What you picture in your last note is precisely what I tried doing, but when I did it, it would be erased immediately.

I tried your suggestion to use another browser (my usual is Opera), so I went to Chrome first, then Microsoft Edge, but your sight on each of these browsers refused to recognize my password to sign in! ("Incorrect password.") I went back to Opera and was able to sign in with the same password.

I'm really getting confused!

Also, I just went to check the directory on the map and now on the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre page FIVE TRUTHS is listed under something called PRIMARY AUTHORSHIP OR PLAYWRIGHT. I don't know what that is and I doubt seriously it should be there - the original producers in London would not be happy, methinks! We are the producers of the current Moscow run, but nothing more. I don't see anyplace in the edit modes to remove this category. Can you help on that?

Thank you for switching Five Truths to Presenter!!!

I hope to get the system figured soon.

I was able to add another show with a minimum of re-doing.

Appreciate your help!

Hi John,

Yes, the language and taxonomy has been a challenge for us to figure out—and then express them into a database that contains "Shows" (a work that exists independently of time/space) and then "Events" (date & place delimited things) which are a subset of "Shows". We'll keep our ears out for what people saying is confusing.

In terms of "Authorship"— the intention there is to list the "primary" maker(s) and/or company of makers who "generated" the work. In the case of "Five Truths", it seems like it would be just "by Katie Mitchell". And Victoria Museum would be a producer that could be mentioned in the About section of the "Show" page: https://www.worldtheatremap.org/en/shows/drmXmoumiZzgj6oLk

We'll forward your browser issues to our developer. And please let us know if the disappearing stuff is still happening.

Thanks,

Chances are quite good that my problems were caused by a glitch or two, but more because I was swimming in a new pool...

I still can't figure out why the site wouldn't accept my password when on Chrome or Edge, but it will when I'm on Opera...

But I'm not going to worry that one! )))

Oh, there's one more thing I've run across. If I put in a date of, say, Feb. 12 start and Feb. 14 end, it comes up on the site as Feb. 11 to 13. Is this because of time differences between the US and Russia? If so, that's wrong, because a show in Moscow starting at 8 p.m. on any date is starting in NY at noon on that same date.

To make the correct dates come out, I have been putting in the next date (i.e., Feb. 13 for an actual Feb. 12 start).

This is FYI.

Thank you again!

Nice bug report about the time/calendar issue. We'll report that now to the developer.

May I ask for a little help again? You did such a nice job of putting FIVE TRUTHS in a PRESENTER's column on the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre page yesterday, and now I need to add another show there, which we co-produce. It is Human Use of Human Beings by Romeo Castellucci. Even though I put the Electrotheatre in as co-producer, the show does not show up on the theater page. Can you correct that, please?

In fact, if you could also put it into the theater's main repertory listing, that would be proper. It is a show mounted at our theater in Moscow and it runs only in Moscow. For legal purposes the official producer is Castellucci's company, but this show is ours.

To clarify: It would be great if you could do with HUMAN USE OF HUMAN BEINGS what you did with FIVE TRUTHS: put it in both the theater rep and under a banner of Presenter.

Thank you!

Here is the “Show” page that displays this show’s Event(s) in the “Show History” section: https://www.worldtheatremap.org/en/shows/jP4JNhTSgoahq2DZT

Click then on the word “Performance” to see this specific “Event”’s information: https://www.worldtheatremap.org/en/events/2aFfoJDju23jfzSCo.

It’s on this event page that I added Stanislavsky Electrotheatre as the Presenter, a Co-Producer— and where I added Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio as a Producer. (see screen capture)

These roles in the Event are easily added and removed. And when you click on Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio’s link to their Profile page, they appear as “Producer” of the Show.

Also you can use the About text field for the Show to explain the nuances of these collaborations and productions.

And here is Stanislavsky Electrotheatre’s Profile page: https://www.worldtheatremap.org/en/profiles/thnvZayxCAh7bcbCd

If you want to change Stanislavsky Electrotheatre’s role(s) on an Event, you need to do the editing on that Event ( https://www.worldtheatremap.org/en/events/2aFfoJDju23jfzSCo. )

Thanks!
